Does The Show Really Help Adoptions?
This special truly does make a difference. Since it began in 1999, thousands of viewers have called because they were moved to action after hearing true stories of families who adopted from foster care and the children who wait for someone to love them.
  • During the past nine years, tens of thousands of viewers have called to inquire about adoption.
  • Adoptions have occurred as a direct result of the show. A random survey of A Home for the Holidays viewers reveals that 11 percent of respondents went on to adopt.
  • The same survey revealed that 87% of respondents said A Home for the Holidays increased their awareness about children in foster care waiting for adoption.
  • Foster care adoption became an option for many who, prior to watchng A Home for the Holidays, did not think they could adopt a child (59% of survey respondents).
