Here at the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, we do a lot to make sure the recruiters we work with have everything they need to get children in foster care adopted. And as more and more people support the work we do, we have an even greater responsibility to get more children adopted.

When new grants are available, we find the areas in North America where there are a high number of children waiting to be adopted. We complete a vetting process that includes researching adoption agencies within that area that would be able to implement the Wendy’s Wonderful Kids Child-Focused Recruitment Model. Once the agency is identified, we invite them to submit a proposal. It’s an interesting and complicated process, and we want to take you along on the journey to show you exactly how we work.

Over the coming months as we receive proposals and choose new sites, you’ll get a detailed look at how we choose new sites, what we look for in our grantees, and hear directly from these new grantees as they experience first-hand what implementing the child-focused program is all about.

We’re excited to share this process with you so you can learn more about the Foundation and what it takes to get some of the longest-waiting children in North America adopted. If you have questions along the way, let us know.
