How Chesapeake Energy Corporation Supported Matt Through His Adoption Journey
Matt, an IT End User Support Supervisor at Chesapeake Energy Corporation, and his wife, Kacy, decided to grow their family through adoption.
The couple started the process with a local adoption agency. After completing the necessary paperwork and home study, they waited patiently to be matched with a child. The next year, Matt and Kacy received a call that would change their lives forever. The biological mother of a 3-month-old girl, Ellie, had chosen them to be her parents.
Throughout the highs and lows of the adoption journey, “The support from not only the company’s adoption benefit, but the people of Chesapeake were nothing short of amazing,” said Matt.

Six months after receiving the call, Matt and Kacy were finally able to bring their daughter home.
“Chesapeake’s adoption benefit allowed us peace of mind financially while providing me time off to bond with my new family … Truly invaluable blessings that we were very thankful for,” said Matt.
Chesapeake Energy was named a 2024 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplace by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption for its robust adoption benefits program.
“We are so proud to once again be recognized for our family-friendly benefits,” said Toni Parks-Payne, Vice President of Human Resources and Employee Services for Chesapeake Energy. “We are dedicated to empowering and supporting employees in all areas of their lives, and this honor underscores our commitment to their well-being.”
