Mrs. Thomas (1935 – 2019) shared her husband Dave’s vision to create the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption in 1992, with one goal — to ensure that every child in foster care has a permanent home and a loving family. In late 2019, Mrs. Thomas passed away. We lost a friend and the world lost a longstanding children’s advocate and philanthropist.
Serving as an emeritus member of the Foundation’s board of trustees for nearly two decades, Mrs. Thomas passionately advocated for the Foundation’s mission. She also actively volunteered her time and support toward foster care adoption in South Florida, where she lived later in life.
“Lorraine saw, firsthand, through her husband’s experience as an adoptee, that having a caring, supportive family can make all the difference in a child’s life, and her service as a board member was instrumental to advancing the Foundation’s impact across North America,” said Rita Soronen, President & CEO of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.
