When Jessica, an Executive Assistant at NFI, and her wife married, they dreamed about becoming parents. After enduring several failed fertility treatments, the couple made the life-changing decision to become foster parents.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the couple fostered 14 children – a difficult task that could not have been possible without NFI’s support.
Shortly into the pandemic, they became foster parents to an 18-month-old boy. As time passed, Jessica and her wife opened their hearts to him and became the boy’s foster parents.
As time passed, the couple formed a strong connection with him, and the possibility of adoption became a reality. With adoption on the horizon, Jessica and her wife discovered he had a 9-year-old brother who also needed a home. The couple embraced the opportunity and adopted the boys together.
Throughout her fostering and adoption journey, Jessica was met with extraordinary support from her employer. Through NFI’s adoption benefits program, Jessica was able to take eight weeks off to bond with her children.
“As a non-birth mother, I was immensely grateful to receive this support while continuing to receive a paycheck,” said Jessica. “NFI’s commitment to supporting all parents, regardless of their circumstances, allowed me to be present for my children during this very pivotal time.”
Today, Jessica’s family is complete and remains grateful for the immense support NFI has provided.
