When JC, a Variable Life Product Consultant at New York Life, and his wife faced infertility, they decided to complete their family through adoption. Unsure how to begin the adoption journey, JC reached out to his employer for guidance. New York Life provided him with a list of adoption agencies and adoption benefits he was eligible for through the organization.
With New York Life’s support, JC and his wife met with an adoption agency to start the process. Soon after, the couple completed the necessary paperwork and home study, patiently waiting for their family to become whole.
In 2021, JC and his wife received the call that would change their lives forever – a baby boy needed a home. They soon discovered the baby was placed in the NICU. The couple immediately called their families, pediatrician and friends for support. After weeks of daily visits, JC and his wife were finally able to bring their son home.
New York Life offered JC support and guidance through every step of his adoption journey. Through the organization’s adoption benefits program, JC was reimbursed a portion of his son’s adoption fees and was given time off while his family transitioned into their new normal.
“We entered the process with a degree of naivety and were shocked when presented with the estimated financial cost,” said JC. “Thankfully, New York Life offered financial reimbursement to help alleviate this burden.”
New York Life’s adoption benefits programed earned the organization a spot in the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption’s 2023 Adoption Advocates list.
