To date, the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption has found forever families for more than 9,000 children in foster care across the United States. The generosity of supporters, like Bill Perkins, make it possible to expand our Wendy’s Wonderful Kids® program to serve more children who need our help the most.
“The gap in opportunities for children who grow up in a permanent, loving home and those who do not is staggering,” said Mr. Perkins. “Even more concerning is that the steady pipeline of nearly 20,000 teens aging out of foster care every year statistically leads to negative consequences, such as homelessness and unemployment, that impact those teens and the communities in which they live.”
“The Foundation is working every day to close this gap and give more children waiting to be adopted from foster care the stability and support they need for a brighter future.”
Mr. Perkins was also drawn to support the Foundation’s mission by his own family experience. His uncle and sister are adopted, and his father adopted his half-sister. “Welcoming and loving children no matter where and to whom they are born is central to my values and beliefs,” he said. “My father always told me that blood doesn’t make a family, love does.”
