Qualtrics Adoption Benefits were Transformational for Matt’s Family
Matt and his wife are no strangers to adoption. They first expanded their family through private adoption with an agency as they welcomed their daughter home in 2014. They realized over time that they had room in their home and hearts to expand their family again — this time adopting their son, with support from Matt’s employer, Qualtrics.
The family’s second adoption experience was much different than the first. The couple had been introduced to a birth mother through a mutual connection and worked directly with attorneys in their state and in the birth mother’s state to finalize their son’s adoption. As legal fees and other expenses stacked up, Qualtrics helped to fill the gap.
“The adoption reimbursement was a significant benefit to our journey. We knew that the cost for private adoptions in the U.S. could range from $20,000 to $45,000 or more, so the workplace adoption benefit was a significant help,” Matt shared.
For anyone considering pursuing their own adoption journey, Matt shared this advice:
“Do as much research as possible. It’s especially helpful to find someone who has experience in your state since laws can differ significantly from state to state. I would also advocate for having patience and giving yourself compassion. Adoption is a long and complicated process with many emotions tied to it. Give yourself the time and space to feel your feelings and work through them.”

Congratulations, Qualtrics, for being recognized as a Best Adoption-Friendly Workplace and for helping to make stories like Matt’s possible.
